About Us

The goal of this site is to document our athletic pursuits, races, and adventurous outdoor lifestyle. We hope the photos, trip reports, and training logs will inspire others to take on an active lifestyle and embark on their own adventures.

Andrea North

Hometown: Knoxville, TN
Personal Bests: 2:49:01 (marathon), 1:17:03 (half-marathon), 17:08 (5K)
Quick Background: I have always enjoyed the outdoors, but never really took advantage of the mountains until the summer of 2009. I needed a change of scenery and some adventure away from Knoxville, so I took internship in Vail, CO. I met some of the most amazing people there, and they introduced me to climbing the Rocky Mountains (much different from the Smokies!). That got me thinking about moving out west after graduation to explore more new places. I moved to Salt Lake City the following summer, and now I love having the Wasatch Mountains only minutes away and easy access to so many other incredible places. Since I've been out here, I have definitely become a better skier and have really enjoyed immersing myself into the running community. [Profile in Run Utah Magazine]

Jake Krong

Hometown: Amsterdam, NY
Interests: Running, backcountry skiing, hiking, mountain biking, backpacking - anything that keeps me outside!
Personal Bests: 2:20:41 (marathon), 1:05:45 (half-marathon), 30:03 (10K).
Quick Background: More details are available in this interview from Run Utah magazine. I was a good high school distance runner, but struggled in college due to injuries and only raced sporadically while at Colgate University and thereafter. I moved out west (Colorado) in 2008 - and that decision completely altered the course of my life. I was introduced to the real mountains and became a skier and avid hiker. I also met Andrea in Colorado (major life alteration #2). I made a "comeback" of sorts into competitive distance running in 2011, and despite falling short of qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Trials Marathon, my goal is to be on the starting line competing against the best runners in the country in 2016. In the meantime, I want to continue to run and race at a high level while also keeping the adventure level as high as possible! In addition to being a runner, I am very passionate about backcountry skiing.
