First Half of January

WINTER!!!

We had 4 good powder days over the long New Year's weekend, then dried out for a bit. I had a conference at Deer Valley so I got a couple afternoons skiing groomers...

Then the snow returned with a vengeance!

Sunday January 6th was storm skiing at its finest in Mill D. It snowed about 7-8" overnight, but then started coming down HARD during the morning. By noon it was over the shoulder blower...

After the storm ended, we got a couple mornings of dawn patrol to take full advantage. Skiing powder by headlamp is surreal and so much fun...

By this past weekend it was sunny and warm-ish. We joined friends for a day of corduroy, bumps, and tailgate at Solitude on Saturday.

On Sunday we started off with a boot malfunction in the parking lot (WTF, Dynafit???!!!)

But we still rallied to get in some nice skiing on Davenport Hill and Flanagans (north aspects still holding good snow), and then rallied again down to Solitude for another tailgate.

Snowpack is solid and the potential for a nice storm or two going into MLK weekend is in the cards.
